AAA State of Play, a commercial playground equipment company, put together this fun infographic detailing the top 10 most popular male and female names, as well as the hundredth most popular name of each gender, of every decade since the 1880s in the United States. All of the information comes from Social Security card applications for births, and numbers weren't issued until 1935, so the information prior only reflects those that applied for a card.

For four decades, John and Mary reigned supreme together, with Mary continuing to top the charts through the 1950s. James made the male top 10 every decade except for the 1990s and 2000s and Mary made it in the top 10 for females the most times with nine entries. There also seems to be a surge in biblical male names starting in the 1980s. Check out the rest of the names below.
